Do you need an account?
Seventh works without an account. What you log stays on your phone, and signing in is optional, for a backup that moves with you to a new phone.
Clue needs a free account to start. Its help centre says it made that choice in 2019, so your data is stored on its servers rather than on your device.
Where your data lives
Clue stores data on Amazon Web Services servers in Ireland and Germany, and is based in Berlin under European privacy law. Its App Store privacy label lists identifiers as “Data Used to Track You”.
Seventh keeps your logs on your phone. There are no ads and no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code in the app.
Predictions
Both apps learn from your own cycles. Clue uses up to your last 12 cycles and marks predicted period days in pink in its calendar.
Seventh shows your next period as a range, like “likely Nov 4–10”, and the range tightens as you log. If you tell Seventh your cycles are irregular, or that you have PCOS, the window widens to match.
Moving from Clue
Clue lets you download your data as a JSON file from its settings. Seventh can import that file, so your past periods come with you. It also takes history from Flo, Apple Health, or a CSV or JSON file. See how to move from Clue to Seventh.
Where Clue is stronger
Clue is on Android and the web, works in 27 languages, syncs with wearables like Oura and Apple Watch in Clue Plus, and has dedicated modes for trying to conceive, perimenopause and people who don’t bleed. It also lets you share your cycle with more than one person. If you need any of those, Clue is the better fit today.
How Seventh handles your data
Seventh never sells your data, shows no ads, and has no third-party trackers or advertising SDKs. It works without an account; if you sign in, your cycle is backed up to our servers so it can be restored. Seventh counts app usage itself, without any health values. Every detail is in Seventh’s privacy policy.
